Oh The Weather, The Weather...

It's 4:48am, and I've been awake since 3. Thats 3am.(Good Morning Sewing Sister) I was dreaming I could smell smoke, and being a mom, it of course woke me up. I did indeed smell smoke, but it was the wood stove of the neighbors next door. It has been cold here for a few weeks, so people are having to get up in the middle of the night and refill their wood stoves. Now that I'm up, I of course can't get back to sleep. Must have had just enough to wake me up I guess. There are times when I am woken in the middle of the night, and I know God wants to do business with me. He either has something to tell me that I have been avoiding, or I need to be in prayer. So, I started the coffee, and decided to get going on my day a little early. We (Maine), are expecting another storm today starting around 10am, so I was planning on being out the door by 7 to get groceries anyway. I thought after I get home from groceries, I would make a big pot of this,I've been told I make a scrumptious corn chowda. If your out today Sewing Sister, stop by and I'll give you some to take home.
Get all cozy in front of this,
And read this,
I talked with Florida Sister the other night, and she has read it. She told me it was the kind of book that you want to be able to read in one setting. Perfect day for that don't ya think?! I've had many friends who have already finished it, and are dying to talk to me about it if I would only make the time to read it. Well girls, today is the day. I've been shhhing our Sunday night coffee group at Tim's when ever they start talking about it. They can't seem to stop themselves. You try shhhing 12 women who want to talk about something. Like I've said before, good luck with that. They however have been very patient about it and have only told me these few things: Once you start it, you won't be able to put it down. It is kind of sad, but in a good way. (Is that possible?). And also they've all agreed, It helps to see God more "outside the box". Not the way most of us tend to keep Him in our own minds. Limited. YES!!! Now that sounds like a book I will enjoy. I'll let you know what I think. Enjoy your Wednesday. You know what I'll be doing. Oh yeah, If you were wondering, Blue Eyed Husband did build the fireplace surround in the picture. I know, he's awesome! Hugs from Maine

Mr Ming woke me up at 4 AM, but I sort of drifted in and out of sleep till 5 AM, when I finally just got up. Make coffee...put the weather channel on, then local news. Not looking good. Here in Millinocket, 12-20 inches predicted. Dosen't look much better for you either. Your chowda looks yummy. It will be a great day for stew, soup or chowda. I'll be running out to the store early this morning myself. My sister is reading the Shack...I am going to read it too. I've heard it is not what you expect....Gotta read it. Hey, I have a Florida Sister too. She lives in Tallahassee. And I have a sister that lives in the Lewiston area. (At HOme ON The Ridge) Brace yourself for the storm...let me know how much snow you get. Have a wonderful day, Lisa! Hugs and blessings, Kathleen

That chowder looks delicious. I hope you'll be sharing the recipe here! That fireplace corner looks so lovely and very cozy, too.

I keep hearing people talk (or blog) about The Shack. There's another book being talked about with a similar theme, but perhaps not the same purpose or Christian slant. It's called The Lovely Bones, but I don't know how similar the books are other than the tragic event which starts them both. I know I can't ever read either one of these. It would be too much for me to handle. I think the interest in both of these books does indicate that people are searching for answers about God, about death, and about why bad things happen to innocent or good people. It's natural to wonder why these things happen, and although I get the feeling that I would not entirely agree with the conclusions in either book, I hope they serve to lead people further in their search for God.

Gone are the days when I think God is waking me up at 3:00 A.M. IT IS MY FREAKIN' NIGHT SWEATS!

Unless that is His new approach, I am not impressed! So be it.

However, I was at work sis girl and thought of stopping by but the weather brought me home early ... so I check on you through this blog and I am always glad to read something new.

The chowda' is AWESOME, as has been stated by a group of women who joined sis girl and I to celebrate my daughter's pregnancy. Even without the salt pork (and perhaps because it was not there.) Rumor has it that sis girl should be calling it 'Butter Chowda' ...

Yes, and 'Blue-eyed husband' is a handy-dandy one and even as a 'blue-eyed brother-in-law!

Got your message about catching up this month. Call me and we'll check our calendars.

I am reading "The Shack" as well. It is a day read ... if you have a day to read it. Sis # 2 encouraged me to read it.

Say, if you have a reading group, count me in! I have been looking for one for sometime and would love to dialogue with a group about what we have read.

I love you.

Thanks for stopping by. I am certainly having fun with this blogging world! You have such a beautiful home, I love your picture. Being in the South I have never experienced snow like what you have. Hopefully next winter we will make it to New York (during a time it snows) to visit my mother-in-law, the kids would LOVE it!
