These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things, Monday

I almost didn't do a few of my favorite things today. I found myself blank when I thought of what to post. But alas, I did come up with three that are some of my favs,

This pocka book. My GFFHS, (good friend from high school), Andi, corrected me the last time I saw her and said we, in Maine, say "pocka" , "suppa", and "pajamma". She is right. We talk so funny up here, I don't even know how we sound.
This pocka-book is so great. First, I got it at T.J.'s, for under $20.oo. I think I paid $16.oo for it. This is a pocka-book with just the right compartments, all placed in just the right spots. Good Friend had one in green, and I loved it. When I saw this one, you bet I got it when I saw it in brown. Good Friend loved her green one so much, she too got a brown version.

Another favorite thing are my white dishes,

They are easy to match, and I don't have a problem replacing a piece if one gets broken. And they do get broken. White dishes are everywhere from T.J.'s to lawn sales, and that is always nice.

The last thing that is a life long fav, that comes from my childhood is this,

Buttered toast and hot cocoa only to be eaten like this,

It's a comfort food from our childhood, (my siblings and I), that has to be made with white bread, spread with real butter, and dipped into the hot cocoa. Wheat bread just doesn't cut it. I've tried. This is something I eat all the time in the winter, (of course our peeps love it), and it never fails to remind me of my mom, dad, and our house on King Street where we grew up. We had a big old kerosene stove that we would load up with 10, 12 pieces at a time. We called it, "toast on the stove". Boy was that good.

Hey, I think I just figured out what to have for breakfast.

Hugs from Maine

I love your white dishes...they look great in that hutch! Your "pocka" book looks wonderful too like it would hold everything you might need! Hope you have a great Monday!

We must have similar tastes. I love the bag and I LOVE white dishes. I love everything white. I have a whole collection of milk glass and most of it came from yard sales in Maine. You're right, everything matches white.

Oh, my favorite Maine phrase is 'from away'.

I love your white dishes and of course your beautiful hutch!!! I love toast with butter, had me 2 slices last night only with chocolate milk. That sounds like a wonderful dinner, huh? Thanks for sharing your favorite things!!! Hope your day is a good one!

I LOVE toast and hot cocoa and I agree only white bread and it has to be dipped...so Y.U.M!

We have some family friends that live here in MO who are originally from Maine and I think I could sit all day and listen to them talk. I love the accent. It is beautiful!

Have a great Monday

Oh my goodness!!! The toast and cocoa is my favorite witner breakfast too! In fact I had it this morning. It really does remind me of being a kid and loosing the smaller pieces in the cocoa to float around and be rescued by a spoon.

Thanks for the childhood reminder,
Take care,
Lisa

Don't you just love childhood memories? Loved hearing about your toast and cocoa... With us, it was dad making fried bologna sandwiches on white bread after Mass on Sunday mornings... I try not to eat a lot of cold cuts anymore, but occasionally we do have fried bologna sandwiches! And I'm with you on the white dishes. That's all I use unless I use my Nana's china on special occasions. You're right, it's so easy to find pieces that coordinate even if they're not the same make/pattern. Have a great week!...Donna @ An Enchanted Cottage
