Laundry Room/Mud Room

Take a look at what Juli did with her laundry room over at My Life...

Juli got me thinking about my laundry/mud room, and how much better the space could be used. It is a very good size. We have two large dog crates, washer & dryer, bench, and lets not forget the stylish black and white damask hamper.

I loved this mud room found online,

Look how nicely the shoes are put in the shelves all orderly like. You know how I love order.

In our house that Blue Eyed Husband built for us and we recently moved from, I had a laundry room sink that I used ALL the time. Mine was a white plastic utility sink, from Home Depot. But look at this beauty,

Blue Eyed Husband can build pretty much anything, and is always willing to make something for me. However, He will remind me that, "Honey this isn't our house. We're just renting remember." Yeah, but Blue Eyes, look at this,

Seems as though I remember Him talking about making a wall of closets very similar to this,

Maybe something simple like this,

Well, we'll see if we do anything at all. After all, we have a bedroom to redo first!

WELCOME BACK Juli. Looking forward to getting to know you better!

I love all the mudrooms you posted. I love my laundry room. In our two previous houses, the laundry room was in the basement, ugly and scary. Now it's right as you come in from the garage. Not very big, but still I love it. There's a closet also and although I really would love one that you have pictured, I'm so thankful for the space I do have. I hope your talented husband can make you something and please post the pictures!!!!

I love the mud/laundry room. I'd settle for a mud room. I hate how everything, I mean everything gets tracked into my kitchen. I've tried and tried to get people to hang up coats, but things in baskets and take off their shoes.. everyone, but my husband does this.. ah...got to love him. They are beautiful.. but if you ever find the family that keeps things that orderly...send them my way!!

I've always wanted a mud room. Seems very Martha. My laundry room doesn't have a sink. That annoys me, I think a sink is essential. Love your photos.

What beautiful rooms! I would take any one of them. I have a little closet for a laundry area. I do have one of those big plastic utility sinks in the half bath next to it. That's nice.

Take care my new friend!
I hope you are off to a good start this week!

Great inspiration ideas! Sadly, I walk straight from the garage into the kitchen, and laundry is in a closet. Sigh. :)

Thanks for posting my laundry room. I think the laundry room, whether it be a room, closet or walk thru to the garage should be a place you like to be. I saw a couple of comments saying their laundry room is a closet. My first one was as well. This is our 4th home and in every house the laundry room was the first room I did. It just makes the task of doing laundry so much more inviting. My sister's laundry room is in a closet but she has it decorated so if someone were to walk in her house on laundry day she wouldn't have to make a mad dash to shut the doors and hide the mess. I don't have pictures but here is what she did. She painted the walls a pretty inviting apple green. She installed two or three shelves the length of the closet above the washer and drier. She put some striped fabric baskets (I think she found at Target) on the shelves to hold supplies and things that she had to store (paper goods, table linens, laundry supplies). She added a picture on the wall behind as well as a framed picture that makes her smile on the shelf next to some pretty containers to hold laundry soap, drier sheets and a little dish for stray buttons and change. When it is time to do the laundry she opens the doors and smiles. It is so pretty and inviting. Treat yourself and spruce up your laundry space. It doesn't have to cost a lot. It just has to make you smile.

Thank you for posting a mudroom designed by Renovation Design Group! The first mudroom posted was a remodel in Salt Lake City designed by one of our architects. You can see more laundry and mud room designs on our website. That mudroom remodel was a great addition to a small home! - Renovation Design Group.
