When I was a sophmore in high school I took a radio and TV class. My teacher gave us the assignment to give our definition of success. That night this very quote from Emerson was in our newspaper. I knew that this was also my definition of success, so I cut it out and took it to class the next day and read it alound to the class when I was called upon. I still carry that newspaper clipping in my wallet and I'm 35 years old.
Love it Lisa... Just had a very difficult morning with my oldest...everyday is pretty difficult with him actually and when I read this quote, especially your favorite part, "to find the best in others" I just lost it. I'm trying to find his best...he's just making me dig sooo deep for it.
This is one of my favorite poems. Always has been. I'm so glad you like the header & background on my blog! I worked hard on it! So yes, it's custom! But I am always willing to help others by making one for them!
